Cesar Wide

César Martínez is an expert in economic and public policy analysis, international relations, energy security, and national security. At Vianovo, Dr. Martínez conducts economic research and analysis and advises on economic, trade, and energy issues. A member of the firm’s Mexico Energy Strategic Advisory (MESA) practice, César offers clients strategic advice to navigate Mexico’s regulatory environment, and provides economic and policy analysis to evaluate opportunities and partnerships in Mexico’s newly opened energy market. He specializes in the design and evaluation of national security strategies and energy security in North America.

A native of Mexico City, Dr. Martinez also brings expertise in cross sector and bi-national cooperation. He has studied in great depth the implementation of economic and political reforms in Mexico and the U.S.-Mexico relationship. In the public sector he held a leading role in budgeting and planning at Mexico's largest federal agency, the Social Security Institute. In the private sector he served as Chief Analyst for Latin America at the intelligence and security firm Stratfor. In the academic sector César has helped to launch different research and collaborative initiatives related to strategy, policy, trade, energy, and security and has been part of several high-level search committees at the university level.

César holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy and a Masters in Public Affairs from The University of Texas at Austin, and a B.A. in Economics (with honors) from ITAM in Mexico City.
