Vianovo is pleased to announce that Matthew Miller is joining as a partner in the bipartisan strategic advisory firm’s Washington office. Matt will advise boards, management teams, and investors on complex international matters – including geopolitical risk, due diligence, and business negotiations – and special situations such as crises, government investigations, congressional inquiries, high stakes litigation, and social and political issues.
In conjunction with Matt’s return to the firm, Vianovo is launching a new geopolitical risk practice to help clients navigate global challenges and risks. In addition to Matt, the practice will include Tucker Eskew, a former global communications director for the White House; James S. Taylor, who leads Vianovo’s cross-border practice with Mexico; and M.C. Andrews, former National Security Council director for democracy.
Matt is returning to Vianovo after serving as Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, where he conducted daily on-camera press briefings, advised the Secretary of State on geopolitical and public communications matters, and represented the United States in meetings with heads of state and other government leaders around the world. He previously worked as a special advisor at the National Security Council at the White House, where he led the U.S. government’s communications and legislative affairs on the war in Ukraine.
Earlier in his career, Matt served as the Director of the Office of Public Affairs for the Department of Justice, leading the department’s communications and serving as the attorney general’s spokesperson. He has worked in leadership positions in both the U.S. House and Senate, served in each of the last two Democratic presidential transitions, and worked on numerous presidential campaigns.
“Companies today face more complex risks than at any time in history, and I’m thrilled to be returning to Vianovo to help them navigate those challenges,” Miller said.
“The problems that companies face in the United States are increasingly intertwined with global challenges,” Eskew said. “We see that every day in our work with the world’s leading companies, and our new geopolitical risk practice will help our clients address those challenges through best-in-class advisory services.”
